A SPRING TOUR TO THE NORTH CAROLINA MUSEUM OF ART IN RALEIGH

SPECIAL EXHIBITION - AMERICAN IMPRESSIONIST: CHILDE HASSAM AND THE ISLES OF SHOALS

Tuesday, March 29th, 2016
Cost: $35 includes lunch in the Museum Restaurant, tickets for two special exhibitions and docent-led tour of the Childe Hassam exhibition. The second special show is MARKS OF GENIUS: 100 Extraordinary Drawings from the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Transportation will be carpooling with other WAA members (if you are willing, please let Ann Lees know that you are able to drive and take others)

Our group will be limited to thirty, as each docent tour is for 15 people. So we will need about seven or eight drivers, depending on the size of the vehicle. From Wilmington to NCMA is around 135 miles.

Lunch is arranged for 11.30am and the tours of the Childe Hassam exhibition at 1pm. This traveling exhibition promises to be enthralling! Both before and after lunch, we shall wander the Marks of Genius show, and marvel at the NCMA permanent holdings, their amazing collection of Rodin sculpture, European Renaissance to 19C paintings, American art of the 18thC to the 20C, African, pre-Columbian, and Jewish ceremonial objects.
Please register as soon as possible online at wilmingtonart.org or by mailing a $35 check made out to Wilmington Art Association to: Ann Lees, 624 Woodland Forest Court, Wilmington, NC 28403. The deadline is March 10th. 2016.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to visit a world-class exhibition!

For further details, call Ann Lees at (910) 791-4137 or annfittonlees@yahoo.com

Next Meeting

Our next regular meeting will be  March 10 at the Arboretum.
We are pleased to have renowned photographer Kelly Starbuck for our speaker.

Kelly will give us a presentation of her beautiful work and speak of her background in photography. A native of Wrightsville Beach, Kelly worked for many years in New York City with international photography celebrity, Bengoeachea. She taught at the International Center of Photography. In 2009 Kelly returned to Wilmington and made her mark at her gallery, SALT Studio, now Kelly Starbuck Photography, in the Brooklyn Arts District.

Starbuck has worked extensively with the film industry, and her work has been displayed on Larry King Live, in Town & Country Magazine, Southern Living and numerous other media. Currently, she is producing and curating Wilmington's first large-scale photography show titled "Southern Exposure: A Photographic Arts Show" at the Brooklyn Arts Center on May 15th, 2016.

Whew!

All registrations are in, and all digital images have been uploaded. The Spring Show is a go!
