Sept. 17, 2013

"If you missed the chance to see the paintings that were created at the Latimer House this summer, there is another opportunity.  This Thursday, September 19, there will be a reception at The Dixie Grill, 116 Market Street, Wilmington from 5-6pm.

Twenty two artists painted at the Latimer House this past summer as a fundraiser for the historic home.  The artists had the rare opportunity to paint models dressed in Victorian clothes in the gardens and the elaborately furnished interior of the home.  The collaboration culminated with an August art show at the Latimer House.

Now the owners of the historic Dixie Grill are hosting the show.  The artwork will be exhibited and for sale at the restaurant until October 15.  The restaurant has been in Wilmington since the early 1900s.

The Latimer House was built in 1852 by local merchant Zebulon Latimer at 126 S 3rd Street.  In 1963 it became a museum.  Tours are offered Monday through Saturday."
