Binwork

At a recent meeting, we were discussing bin work that members can have at the Spring Show, and someone asked, "What is a bin?"
Great question.

A bin is also called a folding canvas print rack, and they are sometime listed as such on art supply web sites. Artists who work in 2D art, who paint or photograph, will find a bin very handy for holding their flat, unframed, wrapped and/or matted art pieces for shows. The art may be smaller in size and lower in price. Visitors to art shows enjoy looking through art in the bins, and often the pieces sell better than hanging or juried art.

Every WAA member is allowed to have a bin of their art - up to ten pieces - whether or not they are juried in to the show. This is a perk of being a member.
However, members must provide their own bins, and must bring them on Monday April 4 with their art.
No bin. No participation.

If you need a bin of your own, you may want to order one. We would advise against the smallest size.
You may have to assemble it when it arrives.
You can check bins out using these links.

Spring Show Purchase Award Opportunities

Artists are invited to present their art patrons and friends with the opportunity for a Purchase Award.  With $100 or more, the patron/friend is invited to an early viewing of the show at 4:00 pm on April 7, 2016  where they may apply the amount given towards the purchase of any piece of artwork.  With the purchase, the total amount goes to the artist – no commission to the WAA.  It is a win for both the artist and the patron, especially if you have a piece that you know someone wishes to purchase.
For interested artists, contact Janet Sessoms @ jbsessoms47@ec.rr.com.

Chad Smith Workshop Update

We still have one or two spots left in Chad's three day workshop in April. Those who attended his terrific plein air demo on Thursday know what a wonderful teacher he is. Don't miss this opportunity to enroll!  Click here to register.
