June 26th. - Art After Hours – 6

We have a reservation on the 26th of June at Henry’s at 6 PM for another Art After Hours.

The subject will be “What Art Sells?” or “What Sells Art?”

I am sure everyone has done what they think is a “great painting”, only to find that it doesn’t sell, even after multiple exhibits and publishing on your website.  Even with a reasonable price, it doesn’t seem to attract a sale.  It may have a great composition and other artistic qualities, but, alas….you still have it sitting in your studio!

In other cases, you do a painting and find that it sells quickly.  You even produce giclees and they sell one after another.

What is going on?   What are people looking for?  How do they decide what they want?

For this session, the price of admission, is for you to bring images of one or more paintings that you have done that you consider a big success in terms of sales.  It would be great if you have had reproductions made and have a history of multiple sales that you could share with everyone.  You can send digital images to me at less than 2 MB ea if you wish.

I think we can start with that and then perhaps show some paintings on the screen and have the group decide which ones they would buy and why.

Hopefully we will gain some understanding of the market from this, and if not, will have a good time together.  I hope you can make it after a month off.

Remember, reservations are limited to 30 and the only way to save your seat is to email me at jdc001@mac.com.  Reservations are in the order received.
