WORKSHOP IN SEPTEMBER
SEPTEMBER 27, 28, 29, 2017
Painting Better Boats with Suzanne Morris

Working in an alla prima method, Suzanne Morris looks beyond the literal interpretation of a scene to capture the spirit of her subjects.  Drawn to a scene that is magically transformed by the light falling across it, she uses a limited palette to create harmonious paintings that tell a story of a particular time and place.

A member of many organizations, she has won numerous awards and has been featured in many galleries.  Her paintings are held in both private and corporate collections across the country, notably the Duke University Hospitals, UCLA Medical Center at Irvine, Burt’s Bees, East Carolina Bank and the Commandant of Midshipmen at the Naval Academy.  Her work has been featured in American Art Collector, Plein Air, and Southwest Art. Her very popular workshops are well attended and eagerly anticipated.

You will work in studio and alla prima to create stronger marine themed paintings in either oil or acrylic, meeting and painting each day from 9 to 4.  Yes, you will break for lunch!  A materials list will be provided upon registration.

 A Living Last Supper
A Living Last Supper is a dramatic and powerful portrayal of Jesus and His disciples on the night before His betrayal. Seated in front of a backdrop of da Vinci's famous painting, each disciple rises to express his thoughts after hearing that there is a traitor in their midst. Music from the Lenten portion of Handel's Messiah performed by the St. Andrews-Covenant Chorale with instrumentalists makes this a memorable Lenten experience.
