Notes from Gretchen: Hope our Spring weather will inspire a big turnout for our March 13th Members Meeting at the Arboretum.  Kirah Van Sickle has planned our program featuring Tom Gilanyi who will discuss marketing options for artists. There  will  be  a volunteer sign-up sheet  for the Spring Show.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Erika Lawrence will have volunteer and entry forms for the Silver Arts Show. Thanks to everyone  who entered their art in the  Spring Show!   Images were being uploaded until 11:45PM March 3rd, just before the  midnight deadline! We had a total of  317 pieces of art entered from 156 artists.  Liz Hosier, Janet Sessoms and Gale Smith worked very hard  to assist with online entries.  Thank you ladies!!!! Kennedy is an established oil painter known around NC for her iconic Beach People series, Italy scenes and the Carolina Ballet painted in the style of classical impressionism. She has been in  many national juried shows. CALLING ALL NEW ARTISTS: Submissions are open now. The Bellamy Mansion Challenges Emerging Artists to Showcase the "Beauty of the Bellamy" in Upcoming Exhibition, Sale and Celebration. The Bellamy Mansion is accepting applications for the first ever Bellamy Mansion Emerging Art Show - the highlight of a five-week celebration of the visual arts from October 2 - November 6, 2014. We are requesting submissions that showcase the beauty of the Bellamy using its history and architecture as inspiration. The deadline for completed application form with entry fee and submission of photos to jurors Gale Smith and Joanne Geisel is 8/30/14. Artists are encouraged to complete an application form NOW with payment of $10 students/$20 adults, to receive "free" access to The Mansion to draw, paint or photograph. Artists may submit two 2-D or 3-D entries. Monetary prizes plus merit and honorable mention awards will be granted. Artists’ Supplies Clear Out Sale Just a reminder to get your art supply excess ready for the March 16 Artists’ Supplies Clear Out Sale.  This event is open to all WAA members and guests and will take place at the Arboretum auditorium on Sunday, March 16, from 2-5 PM.   No commissions, no fees..... Entry Deadline: April 29th                         Opening Reception:  May 9th 6:00-8:00PM Entry Fee:  25.00 (Non-refundable) Association Members:  20.00 Submitting Work for Jurying: All entries (information, registration, and fee) must be received by April 25th.  Art Work must be submitted by May 7th. Size Limitations: Two-dimensional works, when displayed, cannot exceed 48" in height or width, including frame. Three-dimensional works should not exceed 60" in height. If a separate pedestal is sent with the work, the total height, including the pedestal, must not exceed 60".  Delivery and return of the art work will be at the Artist’s expense and time. ArtExposure Art Gallery: The gallery facilitates sales and in the event a piece sells will take 35% commission. (30% members)  All work must include Name, Medium, Size and Price.  All submitted pieces must be priced for sale. All submitted artwork must be the artist’s original work in concept, composition, and execution.  No kits, copies, or collaborative work will be accepted. All 2-D artwork must be ready to hang, wired securely, neatly framed, or in gallery-wrap style. Wire hangers should be mounted, measuring from the top, no more than 1/3 of the length (height) of the frame. (No sawtooth hangers) Frames and mats must be in fine condition (no chips, dirt, smudges) and if papered on back, must not be torn or dirty. Digital photographs and film photographs, color and black & white, are acceptable. Photographic entries must meet all other show criteria.                                            3-D Work must be accompanied with a mounting device or pedestal appropriate to the piece. Completed registration form and fee must be postmarked by April 25th.  All artwork must have a completed identification card attached to the back upper left corner.  Artwork must be hand-delivered to ArtExposure by Wednesday, May 7th.
